Sustainable tourism is not anymore a myth, travelling around Europe with a high respect towards the nature is possible thanks to the technology. The Italian evidence of this statement is definitely the fascinating Como Lake – a lake that has recently gained a nickname of “Electric Lake”.
Charging stations for sustainable tourism
A network of quick charging stations for electric cars was installed around the lake this year. The project realized by the Italian foundation Grandi Giardini Italiani has been supported by 27 public and private organizations situated around the lake. Its objective is to demonstrate the value of the sustainable tourism and promote the territory by making it accessible for the tourists who prefer to use electric cars for long distance travelling.
To make this “great electric revolution” possible the Italian foundation has installed 15 quick charging stations for electric cars along the 170 km of the road around the beautiful Como Lake. 13 of the 15 charging stations have been donated by Tesla. The project has been supported by prestigious hotels and restaurants, local administrations and institutions.
