Great success abroad for Italian food and wine: some 1.2 billion people consume Italian products worldwide each year, as said by the head of the Italian food-industry association Federalimentare Luigi Scordamaglia.

Presenting the Fab Food exhibit for Milan Expo 2015, Scordamaglia emphatized positive results reached by the Italian food industry, which had halved its use of water in 30 years, lowered energy consumption by 20%, cut greenhouse-gas emissions by 30% and optimised packaging to reduce the use of raw materials by 40%.

Italian producers invest every year about 2,6 billion euro to ensure safety and quality and about 10 billion for research, development and innovation. So, according to Federalimentare, Italian technologies and know-how can really offer models “tailored” to the  Expo 2015 challenge “Feeding the Planet, Energy For Life”.
