Italy has an excellence in the making coatings of wood, as proven by ICA Group, the company founded in Civitanova Marche (Macerata) in 1971 that specializes in the formulation, manufacture and marketing of special coatings for wood. ICA-brand products are designed to meet the needs of everyone operating in the woodworking sector, from interior design to carpentry, boatyards to external structures, frames and shutters to garden furniture, wooden flooring to musical instruments.
ICA Group, a family business committed to quality
ICA Group was launched as a private, family-owned company by Claudio Paniccia. The members of the Paniccia family remain a very active part of the business to this day, ensuring continuity in the management and pursuit of the corporate mission, with a specific, constant focus on quality and innovation.
ICA Group’s commitment to quality is reinforced by its pledge to keep the production of its coatings in Italy, where it has its three plants (2 in Civitanova and 1 in Romano D’Ezzelino).
At the same time, ICA Group has all the strength of a large-scale industrial concern that does business around the world. In 2005 ICA started a significant expansion in Germany, where today it has a sales subsidiary, ICA Deutschland. In 2005 ICA established also ICA Iberia in order to reinforce its presence in Spain and Portugal; in 2012 it set up ICA China.
In 2012 ICA launched also a new division, Italian Coatings, following the incorporation of Salchi Wood Coatings SpA. “iCO, the brand of the new division Italian Coatings, is new, modern and high-impact. It has been designed to communicate immediately the Italian DNA of the company”, says Sandro Paniccia the Chairman of ICA SpA.
ICA Group main assets: the R&D department
In 2013, ICA Group’s turnover reached 104 million euros, of which 42% was generated outside Italy. The group currently has 378 employees and 8,000 clients. One of the main assets is the R&D department that comprises a number of lab teams, in which chemists, researchers and analysts co-operate and interact closely. The warehouse in Civitanova Marche for the storage of finished products is the group’s outgoing logistics center that allows ICA Group to guarantee high standards in terms of short lead times and on-time deliveries.
ICA has a long story of certifications and achievements. From being the first Italian company in the wood coatings sector to attain Quality System Certification for its global corporate processes, in compliance with the requirements of the UNI EN ISO 9001 standard (in 1990), to obtaining a rating 1 from from Cribis D&B (that guarantees the highest qualitative standards and maximum coverage in terms of economic and business information on companies), a clear indicator of the reliability and solidity of ICA.
