It may seem that Italian mentality does not easily accept business innovations. But the reality shows a different picture: Italian companies and startups are pioneers when it comes to Automotive and Insurtech.

Marco Marinucci, CEO of Mind the Bridge, an Italian association aimed to provide support to innovative companies, expressed his opinion in an interview for InsuranceUp, the first online portal dedicted to innovation in the insurance sector.

“Contrary to what we are accustomed to read, Italy in Automotive and Insuretch is up by 5-6 years compared to other countries.” – states Marco. – With about 7 million connected cars on which black boxes are installed, Italy is at the forefront of the new business model for insurance by analyzing the behaviour of users monitored by telemetry systems”.

Mind the Bridge Global Matching Program

Mind the Bridge, based in San Francisco, has organized the first edition of the Mind the Bridge Global Matching Program: an event aimed to get together the most innovative companies and startups of the Automotive and Insurance markets. The first edition has hosted nearly 50 companies of different sizes, during the event the representatives of the innovative businesses had a chance to do networking and share  their experience.

Among the most innovative Insurtech and Automotive companies from all over the world, the Mind the Bridge Global Matching Program has hosted several Italian startups that have demonstrated an outstanding attitude to business and have presented their innovative ideas during the event. Here are the three companies that made the most success at the event venue.

Air, founded in the 2014 by Igor Velandro, has developed a white label platform that enables new insurance products based on driving behavioural analysis. Analysing the contextual data it offers a comprehensive and integrated solution to its partners, such as car manufacturers, insurance companies, car dealers, and drivers.

Saphibeat, founded in the 2014 by Carlo Ciaramelletti and based in the USA, develops breakthrough technologies and installs them on portable security devices. The innovative technologies by Saphibeat allow the users to stay in touch in case of emergency and provide status reports and information about the position of those who respond.

Energica Motor Company founded by Livia Cevolini is the first Italian hyper-sport electric motorbike manufacturer that manufactures components for Formula1.
