“Italian is cool!” – these inspiring words of the American students from the tri-state NY-NJ-CT can be heard today thanks to a praiseworthy commitment of IACE, the Italian-American Committee on Education.
From the 2013 until today the dedication and promotional activities of the president of IACE, Berardo Paradiso, and his team made it possible to more than double the number of American students who choose to study Italian language in New York, New Jersey and Connecticut.
Study Italian learning the concept of “Made in Italy” and the Italian culture
The methods used by IACE to promote the Italian language among the American students were simple as abc. The organization based the promotion on the extra curriculum activities focused on Made in Italy and the Italian excellence. A number of Italian companies have been engaged in the project as well.
For instance, the program “Mangia sano & parla italiano” (Eat healthy & speak Italian) has been successfully working at Eataly while the initiative “Design the car of your dreams” has been organized in collaboration with Ferrari. Many other activities like these in partnership with big Italian brands have helped to promote the image of the Italian language among the American students and increase the number of students who study Italian from little more than 22000 in the 2013-2014 to 50000 in the 2017-2018 academic years.
More great initiatives are about to come
The future plans of IACE are even more inspiring: in April a group of American students will visit PepsiCo Design & Innovation Center in Manhattan. This new collaboration has been confirmed recently and is supposed to introduce the USA students to the world of new technologies that, combined with the unique Italian taste and know-how, are able to create revolutionary products.
