Four films I think need to expand that list are Johnny Stecchino, The Sicilian Girl, Malena, and Flight of the Innocent. Stecchino was the top grossing film in Italy for a long time, and is hysterical; The Sicilian Girl paints a picture of real events in a personal way; Malena shows the effect of WWII on small Sicilian villages; and Flight of the Innocent, not only an authentic picture of ‘Ndrangheta, but is done more with the camera than dialogue, as film is supposed to be.
