Water purification technology an Italian excellence? Italian companies are usually renowned for their proficiency in the food sector or the fashion one. Well, there are many other fields in which Italian companies are doing a great job, and one of them is excelling in the engineering field. It is called De Nora, a Milanese company, which is introducing an advanced water purification technology in Hong Kong.
Towards the conquest of Hong Kong
De Nora, based in Milan, has arrived in Hong Kong to stay. It is a project about 30 million euros worth, which will help the Hong Kong administration (Water Supply Department of Hong Kong S.A.R.) to operate water purification plants in a safe manner. This is because De Nora has an innovative technology which reproduces the company’s traditional know-how production of chlor-soda while adding chlorine to the water.
For Hong Kong the choice was simple: investing in premium technologies that will avoid potential risks during the operation of their water purification plants. This is because dangerous chemical materials are being transported while the plants are operating, increasing the danger of a possible explosion —as demonstrated by a various serious explosion that happened in China a few years ago with several victims.
From water purification towards the future
But excelling in water purification technologies is not everything that De Nora is capable of. The company is searching for new markets to expand, even if in Italy there is not much in the pipeline. The Suzhou plant, in China, is a possible heading with a $ 10 million contract. And by the end of this year, the United States and India are the next.
De Nora is pointing towards investing in the future, and they will do it through their insertion into the hydrogen market. This would be a futuristic prophecy from Jeremy Rifkin, who has said that in the future our civilization will be called the ‘hydrogen civilization’; because of the use of hydrogen as the basic fuel. There’s no doubt, De Nora is not only a water purification supplier but an example of Italian excellence that will lead many other enterprises to come towards a bright future.
