Sixty pizza chefs, about two tons of Italian mozzarella, 1,500 pounds of tomatoes and 150 litre of olive oil, 1,700 kilograms of flour, water and sixty pounds of yeast. These are the ingredients for the world’s longest pizza prepared today at Expo Milan 2015: about 1595 meters and 3 tons. Among the pizza makers there is also Davide Civitiello, world’s pizza champion, that is baking Margherita and other tasty pizzas since the beginning of Expo at RossoPomodoro corner, located in the center of the pavilion of Eataly. The art of Neapolitan pizza is conquering the taste of all Expo visitors from around the world as Rossopomodoro pizza master chefs provide on average 1.000 pizzas a day.
The world’s longest pizza
To prepare the world’s longest pizza, there are five furnaces, 80 members of the National Italian pizza chefs, 200 volunteers who ‘oversee’ the preparation, and 40 people involved in the transportation of the ovens. Cooking time: three minutes to every meter of pizza. The result of the preparation will be ‘offered to more than 30 thousand visitors of Expo, and 300 meters of pizza will be delivered by volunteers at the Food Bank of Milan. Moreover pizza will also be donated to the refugees hosted in Milan Central Station.
The attempt to break the record is an important step to support the candidacy of Italian pizza’s art in the UNESCO list of cultural Heritatge.
